I found him.
This is a store in the Gong Guan area near National Taiwan University, the best school a kid can get into.
The restaurant has no seating and the only thing 0n the menu is “pao mian” – instant noodles.
You pick a package from the shelf, maybe based on taste preference or that extra special catchy coloring, and pay the lady extra to add hot water.
Coming from a place in the US where the nearest food within walking distance is a crabapple tree, this seems incredible. Who would have guessed convenience can be so addictive, or reach such a degree?
