…because when things are broken, I can fix them!
This week it was our bathroom sink – standing water and no sign of drainage. So, I applied all the home remedies and when that didn’t solve the problem entirely, I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it and put it back together. One word: gross. Not recommended for the faint of heart.
Mostly, I’m just happy that I get to do this sort of thing, because I love the problem-solving aspect of it! And Michael’s not fighting me for the rights to fix-it person, so I feel free to get ‘er done without feeling like I’m stepping on his (manly) toes.
Life is good
Emily, I’m very proud of you. The worst part of plumbing – I think – is the small quarters you have to work in. But I agree that the problem solving is fun. Very often you’ll find out that a problem is simple and not worth the $ 18.00 / hour that the professionals charge. It’s also very self-confirming when you figure it out and can fix things. I know that you know as well as me that “neccessity is the mother of invention”. Way to go!! Hope everything else is going well, My love to you both – Aunt Winnie
Yay Emily! We just watched Fly Away Home with Jeff Daniels and Anna Paquin. It was made in 1996. Have you ever seen it? The reason I ask is that Anna Paquin reminded me so much of you!!! It was uncanny! Has anyone ever told you that? Love you lots! Mom J.
Yeah totally,
Emily, you put me to shame…
I don’t know of any girl who would do what you did, and while I would like to think that I am capable of fixing things around the house (It certainly is a satisfying feeling), I’m not so sure I could do it.
Unclogging the drain, taking it apart, removing the uck, and then reassembling with a piece missing…
you’re awesome!
haha… Just checking these posts now.
Winnie, Ken (roomie) told me afterwards that I should try my hand at hiring myself out as a handy-man, so I can make a lot of money…but that’s just not as fun as fixing your own stuff! Plus isn’t it a prerequisite that I have plumber butt to fix someone else’s sink?
Mom, I remember that movie, and liking the girl…but it’s been ages since I’ve seen it. I’ll take the comparison as a compliment
And Ken…you most certainly can fix anything! Just copy me: grab a screwdriver and take everything apart, lol.
